Q&A with Rob Baigent, Head of Sales

    Describe your current role.

As Head of Sales, I work with our National Sales team to increase awareness of Northline’s global capabilities and support customers across international, warehousing and domestic (intermodal linehaul and final mile) freight services.

What has been your favourite aspect since joining the business?

Our customers. We are constantly put to the test and looking for ways to expand our service excellence and innovate but more importantly provide flexibility. Most recently, the pandemic has created all sorts of supply chain challenges for our customers. It’s been most invigorating being able to work with them towards accommodating changes to their logistics requirements.

How has Northline adapted to customers changing logistics requirements over the past year?

Our warehousing services have seen an incredible amount of change and demand. Therefore, Northline’s Warehousing and Distribution service has had to be as flexible as ever to support our customers changing logistics requirements.

This has seen Northline adapt to customers change in supply and planning practices, presenting a demand for excess storage requirements, alternative inventory placement and peak activity volumes.

We have worked with both new and existing customers to establish regional satellite operations across many of our depots across the country, providing local access to inventory to further enhance service levels and provide business continuity options for potential border closures or import delays.

Tell us more about Northline’s warehousing capabilities.

Northline operates a fully integrated national depot network with 13 strategically located depots in six states and territories (including North Queensland) offering more than 120,000 square metres of warehousing capacity.

Our tailored warehousing and distribution solutions are designed to save customers’ time, money and space by using our infrastructure and experienced employees, without the capital outlay or ongoing labour expenses.

With capability to support customers immediate needs across our footprint, Northline can provide a quick implementation process across an agile operating solution. We have the ability and flexibility to tailor solutions to meet our customers’ requirements and evolving market demands, including scaling up to add further capacity as needed.

What are the advantages of managing your warehousing with Northline?

The flexibility offered from our shared user operations, standardised processes and our in-house Warehouse Management System (WMS) provides the ability to implement change quickly, without excess cost or disruption.

Equally, the ability to leverage the usage of either our International or National Freight Management services provides our customers a true end-to-end solution from an Australian owned and operated business.

If you have an immediate need for Warehousing and Distribution services, please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager for support.
